Fancy Friday events are held in the downtown area of Nashua, NH. These events have an orientation toward fun, fanciness, fabulousness, friendship, frolicking and fundraising for worthy causes. Participants get dressed in their finest suits, tuxes, dresses and gowns and paint the town red.
The Summer Fancy Friday is sure to be the Fanciest event we have had to date!
The most recent Fancy Friday event boasted over 100 participants and raised $830 for the Humane Society for Greater Nashua on June 17th. On that same day, a young woman – 24 year old Renee Brodeur of Lisbon, ME got a phone call from The Cleveland Clinic to inform her that there were donor lungs that were a match for her waiting in Cleveland, OH. Renee was intending on attending the last Fancy Friday, but she instead hopped a jet to Cleveland, traveled with police escort to the hospital, and was under the knife by noon that day to receive a life saving lung transplant. Renee had the condition of pulmonary hypertension which made it impossible for her to breathe effectively without oxygen therapy and a constant infusion of a medication, which for Renee had many unpleasant side effects. Thanks to the donor Renee truly has a new lease on life and is in the recovery phase in the Cleveland area.
The Summer Fancy Friday will be held on Fancy Friday, August 26th, and proceeds from a raffle, participant wrist bands ($5), and any donations will go to benefit The National Transplant Fund Northeast Lung Fund in honor of Renee Brodeur. People who purchase wrist bands will be eligible for specials at participating locations, and will not have to pay a cover charge at any participating location.

Fancy Friday events are a great excuse for people to dress up and go out and look good for a good cause. If the success continues with this event, which is expected to draw 150-200 participants, Fancy Friday events will continue on a seasonal schedule to benefit Charities of Choice, charities chosen by facebook users who socially connect with Fancy Friday at www.facebook.com/Fa
******MORE ABOUT OUR CHARITY OF CHOICE************
The National Transplant Assistance Fund is the Charity of Choice for this next event. NTAF is a non profit organization that provides an opportunity for individuals who are in need of or have had an organ transplant to raise funds and put them into an individual fund that is accessible to the person for use in paying for transplant related expenses. (think co-pays for MD visits, medications, special equipment, health insurance while temporarily disabled)
Here is why…
On the very same day of The Spring Fancy Friday a young woman from Lisbon, ME named Renee Brodeur got a call from the Cleveland Clinic to tell her that she was to board a plane, as soon as could be arranged, and make the flight to Cleveland to have a very much needed double lung transplant. She had intended to join us downtown for the festivities that night.
While Fancy Friday goers were just arriving in their fanciest attire Renee was just coming out of surgery, breathing with the assistance of a machine, with her brand new lungs. Three weeks later and she is now discharged from the hospital and walking around without an oxygen tank for the first time in almost a year. This procedure and the individual who made the choice to be an organ donor have truly saved Renee’s life.
Now here is our chance to be a part of something truly great and lend a hand to Renee as she recovers from the procedure and moves forward to enjoy her new lease on life.
Fancy Friday is proud to announce that we will be raising funds for the NTAF-Northeast Lung Transplant Fund in honor of Renee Brodeur at The Summer Fancy Friday. Renee’s fundraising goal is of a significant amount, as the costs associated with this life saving procedure are substantial and persist over the lifetime. Ms. Brodeur is a strong, brave, beautiful and fortunate young woman. We hope to help Ms. Brodeur and her family with their fundraising efforts and stand strong with them on August 26th.
Please take a moment to share Renee’s story with and extend an invitation to your friends. Let’s make The Summer Fancy Friday a night to remember, and use this fun event as an opportunity be part of something greater than ourselves.
Fancy Friday Jim Vayo of www.VisualizeNashua.com will be over at his office with Matthew Lomanno Photography for an open portrait session for Fancy Friday goers from 8-10PM. If you come downtown when you get back you will be sure to find someone you know there!
See you downtown!
